What is it about Bill Ward’s writing that made me read three of his books within one week? The Cabal is the third of them and, like the rest, the compulsion to read and read until I was finished was irresistible. The writing is accomplished, certainly, but it is clear that Bill doesn’t agonise over it and he isn’t afraid to use the odd cliché or two.
