The Prince of Tides was a life-altering read for me. The first time I read it, which was the beginning of several successive readings, was in the eleventh grade and during a time of vast personal struggles. Pat Conroy's work helped me persevere through a very rough period and inspired me to major in English--a decision that proved the most fulfilling.
