The first half is just about getting back home. Rai desperately wants to get back and reconcile with the Queen. They Bayars are trying to get Rai taken out as heir and have her more amenable and easily maneuvered sister Mallory take her place... As if the commoners and Spirit Clan will allow it.

I love the series. I am glad to have all the books at once. That way I can read them one after another!
