Well I am not sure about this book or series. I may decide to read the other ones. This is my first book by Garth Nix. I listened to the audio which was narrated by Tim Curry. I enjoyed listening to him.
I was not familiar with anything about this book so I went in with no prior thoughts or opinions. I enjoyed the book but still trying to figure out the story. I will be checking out my library to see if they have the actual books.

This was a really quick read.
I thought I'd like this book more than I actually did, but it grew on me by the end. I wish I had known more about Sabriel at the beginning, but she's a strong, capable female character. The writing can get awkward in places (there was one bit about a "new moon, swelling in brightness" that made me go "wait... wait... D:"), but it's readable. And I really enjoyed the romance, in a teenager-y kind of way -- for a young adult book, it was unusually frank about sex!

Review : 2nd Read: 9/18/2011
So, I think I must have enjoyed this a lot more the 2nd time around, as I originally only gave it 3 stars and am now wavering between 4 and 4.5. I really liked the dark and somber atmosphere, the ambiguousness of Mogget, and the system of magic.

DNF'd as my library hold ran out. May return to it at some point as I did enjoy the MC, even if the book felt a bit slow.
