I admit I enjoyed that this book was a bit similar to the early books. Not too focused on Pack politics and such, but just Kate and friends doing their thing.

Oh, how I love this series. Kate & Curran are two of my favorite characters and they shine in Magic Shifts. This is first time fans really get a chance to see free-from-the-keep Curran. It just reminds you how well these two work together not only as a couple but as a fighting pair. Quite a trip to think of His Furriness livin' in the 'Burbs, but, from the sounds of it, he's made quite the home for Kate, Julie and himself. Always nice to come back to the world of Kate Daniels. It's like visiting family. Quite enjoyed seeing how Kate and Curran were navigating their new life and positions. I also enjoyed seeing Jim and Dali - would love to read a short story on how they've been working to establish their positions as the new Beast Lord and Consort. I'm very interested to see what happens next with the Guild and Curran. Kate's question at the end...good indication of what she may try and do next when it comes to dea

I did think that the break with the pack in the last book was a good move for moving the plot along. Honestly I don't think the series would have recovered if Andrews hadn't made that metaphorical sacrifice. ...more

Either these books are getting too formulaic or I'm outgrowing this series. I used mark the release date on my calendar and now it takes me a week to finish one.
