Perhaps I was hindered by not reading the Guardian series first...but I don't think so. I found this book slow-going. The relationship seemed forced and moments that should have been funny just weren't. The elements were all there, but the story fell short of truly delivering anything notable. That said, I can't give up on a cliff hanger ending, even if the book didn't hold me in thrall, so I suppose I'll read the sequel!

The story line built up from where the Ailing books left off. I was glad to see Aisling, Drake and Jim involved, especially at the end of the book.
The cliff hanger at the end made me glad I waited to read this until I had all three books so I could start the next one right away.
