This book took a bit to get into, I think somewhat because the heroine spent most of the book trying to figure herself out. I loved her family and her puppy, Chewie. The mystery was solved sooner than I expected. The pies sounds marvelous. But it took me a long time to finish as there was never anything pulling me back in. I do have to say I'm starting to get a bit tired of the "evil nemesis" plot point showing up in so many cozy mysteries nowadays.

This is a great start to a pretty awesome series! It's a great amalgamation of Nancy Drew, food, and magic. It wins everything! :)
