Twice Tempted (Night Prince, #2) in SOS: Serious Overload of Series

Twice Tempted picks up just a little bit after Once Burned, but it continues with a bang! This book was very intense and the relationship between Leila and Vlad was scorching hot. I think I liked this one even more than the first one but this entire trilogy has been excellent so far.

Leila is really stepping up to become one of my favorite "Night Huntress World" heroines. She is strong and spunky and determined to help those she cares about. She won't let herself be used or devalued and fights fo Twice Tempted picks up just a little bit after Once Burned, but it continues with a bang! This book was very intense and the relationship between Leila and Vlad was scorching hot. I think I liked this one even more than the first one but this entire trilogy has been excellent so far.

She won't let herself be used or devalued and fights for what is important to her. I liked that she could take care of herself, not just by using her powers, but also by just being smart and cool-headed. Vlad was more like the character we have come to expect from the Cat and Bones books. He was strong-willed, a little hard-headed, and very, very dangerous. When it comes to his people, especially Leila, he will stop at nothing to ensure their safety. Loving Leila has really spun him for a loop, but I think he will be a better man and a more interesting character because of it. They really complement each other well and it was fun seeing what was mostly an infatuation in Once Burned turn into deep and meaningful feelings in Twice Tempted.

In this book, someone is trying to capture and possibly kill Leila. No one seems to know why and even Leila's power can't pick up the face of the vampire behind everything. Vlad soon learns that he also has traitors among his most-trusted vampires. While trying to protect Leila and weed out the traitors, Vlad also realizes that he must give Leila a deeper romantic commitment if he wants to keep her. He must admit that he loves her, otherwise she will leave forever. Can Vlad open his heart while still keeping the edge necessary to take down his enemies?

We get much more background into Vlad's early life and the actions he had to take to survive in this book. He accuses Leila of loving a fantasy version of him instead of the real him. She decides to use her powers in the weapons room to see just what he had done and to prove that she loves the real him. It was a very touching scene and I think it went a long way in proving to Vlad just how committed Leila is. We also got a closer look at the dungeon and the types of torture that go on down there and can I just say "Ick?!?" Vlad definitely lives up to his nickname of the Impaler.

This trilogy lives up to the sexy fun of the original "Night Huntress" books. Seeing as the next book is the last for Vlad and Leila, I'm expecting them to go out with a big, fiery bang! I can't wait to see how they adjust to all the changes in this book and what will happen when they eventually face down the true big bad. "Night Huntress" and Vlad fans can rejoice with this book; it is a bloody, sexy good time. ...more

This was a lot better for me than Once Burned.
I made the mistake of peeking at the last page while waiting for a long light on the way home from work, so the thrill of a cliff hanger was lost during my commute. Anyway, Leila and Vlad make a great pair. He can start a fire on a whim and she can shoot electricity out of her hand. Who wouldn't want them as friends?
I still don't understand how Leila's sister Gretchen and their father fit in with everything, but I figure the family element is a stap ...more
