A primeira parte do livro para mim foi a pior. Gostei do espaço onde a acção teve lugar, as descrições das paisagens áridas e irregulares de Marrocos mas não consegui ter cabeça para este mundo (que para outras pessoas nem o será) complexo. Notes: I read the eARC (electronic eBook Advanced Copy Reader version provided by the publisher via NetGalley) and will need to check my quotes against the finished book. The book is a bit more violent than most Young Adult books as there is a war going on.

It has been awhile since I started this series and I was afraid that I would be lost. I actually remembered the first book as I was listening to this one. I enjoyed the banter between the characters. I was surprised by the ending.

I did get confused with some of the characters and who was talking at times. I was still able to figure out who was talking. I will be reading or listening to the 3rd book in this series.

This book holds up well to the first in the series. This story tells more of the history of why the Angels and chimaera are fighting and we get glimpses of how life is for some of the different groups of people such as the silversword guards and the harem/concubines. At first I wasn't sure why these pov's were being told but now after finishing the book I realize how genius this is as it gives the us, the reader, a different perspective on how to view the various main characters within the story ...more
