I really felt the connection between Quent and Zoe in this one. They were so good together and, like Quent, I kept waiting for Zoe to show up.

The story shed some major light on what happened to create this new world which I was pleased to see. I've read a few series where the author holds all her cards until the very end and that isn't I love this series. I love the world building by this author. She is able to convey the devastation that took place without paragraph upon paragraph of narrative.

A tiny niggle for me is the use of the diary/blog entries by people that survived the Change. In the first book it was nice because it explained what happened immediately after and how people were able to adapt and move forward and in the second book it did the same but was tied to the plot. I know the author has to keep in mind readers that may be starting on book 3 but I would like diary/blog entries to show more than just the first couple days and months. I want to know about how they established electricity and running water. How communities were created (book 2's diary explained that one a little). I want to know why no one thought to preserve vehicles rather than letting them all rust. In this book the mayor of Envy decides to start a makeshift medical clinic and I want to know why that wasn't established in the last 50 years. They may not have had a legitimate doctor but surely somebody has been helping to care for injured people. I would've thought establishing a hospital and school system would be a priority for Envy before now. These are tiny issues that didn't affect my enjoyment of the story. Rather I think it shows how engrossing the setting is that I want to know so much more about it.

I love Remy and Ian. I want to see them together in a book but based on what I've read on the web they may be involved in a love triangle with Wyatt. Of course that is reader speculation based on scraps of info from the author.

Another great book! I really like the world she has created. The story does not wrap up in this book, expect a few cliffhangers/lose ends in this one. #4 comes out sometime next year and I will be buying it right away.

Really more like 3.5 stars. I did enjoy both Zoe and Quent, and was happy they finally got there own book. I didn't really care for the anti-climatic way that Parris Fielding was dealt with. But other than that the book was good. :) ...more
