I was all set to give this one four stars just like its predecessor until I got to the part when Drake throws Aisling into the limo near the end. At this point Aisling becomes incredibly selfish and immature.

I couldn't believe her behaviour. She made an oath, a commitment to not just Drake but to his green dragons. She acts like a selfish brat worrying about a career she hasn't even started yet, when her mate is about to lose everything with the possibility of even going to war.

I'm very happy to say that I found this book to be much more enjoyable than the series starter, You Slay Me. This book plops Aisling into Hungary for a conference of magical folk the world over (whose acronym is GODTAM, hardy har). She's (more or less) come to terms with her abilities and wishes to learn more about the role and duties of Guardians, and spends her time in Budapest trying to find a mentor. Fire Me Up finds Aisling in Budapest for a conference in search of a Guardian mentor. She's doing her best to come to grips with her powers and knows there is still a lot for her to learn. She's also to deliver another priceless item - an amulet - for her uncle, who's given her a second chance.

Jim is still hilarious and Drake is still hot, hot, hot, but Aisling bugged me a bit in this one. I don't want to give spoilers, but let's just say that her wishy-washy attitude in the love department

I am enjoying the Aisling Grey series so far. Jim cracks me up. The editing could use some work. I'm always noticing typos. But it's a decent series overall. I will definitely be reading more of the series. ...more
