I’m so disgusted by this book right now that I can’t think, see, or hear straight. I also have this massive headache caused by my stubbornness to finish reading something I was hating so freaking much. What was I thinking. -_-

In a nutshell, the reason why I hated this book while having enjoyed the first one can be explained by this quote:

I am not usually one to review subsequent books in a series. As it's almost impossible to NOT give things away to those who haven't yet read the first book.

This book was a strange read for me. I had a hard time getting into it at first. I found the constant switching of POV to be annoying, and the constant tension to be actually anxiety-inducing.

However, as things really picked up in the 2nd half of the book, I'm very glad that I didn't give up on this one! ...more

It took about 100 pages or so to really get in this one. Once it picked up, it was very good. Elder had lot of growing up to do in a very short period of time. Amy matured too, but I thought she regressed a bit at the end (view spoiler) ...more
