The best parts about the books in this series is when the family gets together. The fact that they're dysfunctional makes them all that more endearing.
As the overall story is switching to the kids and what their possible problems are and will be, makes me miss the older characters. Annwyl seems to be "softer" as the books go along. I mean, she isn't out killing everyone and everything just for the heck of it. It's like she's thinking before she's doing.

I kept putting off reading this one, partially because there wouldn't be another one for awhile and partially because I was worried Izzy & Éibhear's tale wouldn't live up to my expectations. I shouldn't have worried though cause it was just as violent and funny as the rest of the series and Izzy really made him work for it.

I loved how we got to know more about Izzy's relatives and there was lots of plot developments opening up the books for more stories and lots of new characters & clans for us ...more

I'd been putting off reading this one just cause then I'd be caught up on the series. How was Ms Aiken going to reconcile Izzy & Éibhear after their youthful follies?

I shouldn't have been worried, at all. And whilst watching them get their act together we had plenty of action, battles, Gods, cults, bad family members and laughter.

All this action takes place 10 years after the last book and Éibhear the Blue is now Éibhear the Contemptible and Izzy the Dangerous is General Iseabail of Annwyl the ...more
