Story is still consistently good. Characters are just not growing on me at all. And the characters I did like act so childish I can't even stand it. Some of the instances were highly predictable. Questions that were obvious took forever to be answered. Even though the reader is screaming at the book "I ALREADY KNOW".

This is the second in the series and sees Jayne and the gang in New Orleans. While not obvious, the twist wasn't a huge surprise either. Still, I liked this book better than the first in the series. I felt like I got to know the characters a bit better (still not much insight into Ex yet) and I think I just liked the story a bit better. Others may disagree, but that's my take on it.

Darker Angels, the sequel to Unclean Spirits, has all the action and excitement as the first. M.L.N. Hanover has a great way of adding in plenty of action sequences that are stimulating without seeming redundant or bland. The tensions between various characters are constantly mounting and add further levels of drama and intrigue.
