What Members Thought

I have to confess that Emmaline Troy is one of my favorite heroines in a paranormal romance. Sometimes-only sometimes -I get especially tired of books where the heroine is the feisty, aggressive person right from the get-go. Did they pop from the womb, full Rambo-ette, ready to take on the world? (My friend swears her daughter did.) How did they get that way? It is sometimes more interesting to see a meek personality like Emma develop. Yes, she has been sheltered and she's a wuss, but she grows

Through all those times of searching for a good book to escape boredom, I can't ever forgive myself for setting Kresley Cole's books aside. I was skeptic at first, thinking it may be cheap imitating ideas of great authors like Sherrilyn Kenyon and J.R. Ward. But God, how wrong I was!

This book has something for everyone vampires, werewolves, and Valkyrie. Emmaline is half Valkyrie/ half vampire who ends up being the mate of the Lykae Clan King Lachlain. When Lachlain catches the sent of the mate he has been searching for for hundreds of years it gives him the extra strength needed to break free from the vampires that have been torturing him for about 150 years. When he finds Emmaline things really start to get interesting. Lachalin cannot believe a vampire (his enemy)is his

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this immensely. I love alpha males especially werewolf ones but I felt a bit uncomfortable with the hero treating the heroine so badly. It was the same with the first one. I feel guilty for enjoying the rest of the story when she's kidnapped, terrorised, suffers sexual abuse verging on rape and then goes on to have a happy ever after with him. Stockholm Syndrome no doubt played a part in these girls eventually falling for these guys. I'm not a die hard feminist but
