It is so very sad when a series you love comes to an end, even when you know there is a spin-off on the way, you know it will never be the same and you have to say goodbye to characters that you have come to love so much.

The Parasol Protectorate series was one that snuck up on me. Souless was fantastic, but it wasn't love at first sight. I had issues getting used to the writing, but when I did, I was absolutely done for and sucked into the world of Alexia and co.

The last of the Parasol Protectorate series, though I did hear Ms Carriger is writing a spinoff series, the first of which is titled Prudence.

Alexia and Conall have settled down in domestic bliss in London and to living in Lord Akeldama's third-best closet so they can be close to Prudence, who is now about 2 years old, when Alexia receives a summons to visit Egypt and the world's oldest living vampire.

Good ending to a fun series. I was ready for it to end and felt the story had run it's course. Kudos to the author for not dragging it out just to milk more money. I completely agreed with Prudence in the end. :) ...more
