4 ½-5 stars – Vampire Romance
I really enjoyed this sixth installment in Lara Adrian’s awesome Midnight Breed series, but found myself feeling a little confused at first because it’s been a while since I’ve read the previous books and there is an ongoing story arc that’s central to the story.
For those of you who haven’t yet read this series, there are similarities often drawn with J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood and Ward herself gives an author endorsement, but Adrian’s take on the origins a ...more

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. For some reason, I keep reading it hoping the romances would get better but they really don't. This isn't the worst of the lot - with a prior relationship, there was a reason for them to have feelings for each other - but it still wasn't the breakthrough book for me.

Ashes of Midnight by Lara Adrian
Andreas Reichen is back from the dead, and he’s out to get vengeance on all those involved in the destroying of his kin at his Darkhaven estate. Going through his list of enforcement agents and getting rid of them one by one, he comes to the guy on the top rung – Wilhelm Roth. Unfortunately unknown to him, attached to Wilhelm Roth is Claire his mate. Andreas and Claire have been in love with each other since the first day they met 30 years ago. Claire ...more

Another great Midnight Breed novel and a quick and entertaining read. Reichen has been an interesting character since he was first introduced - was it back in Tegan and Elise's book? After the devestating conclusion to Veil of Midnight, we knew that Reichen was going to be looking for vengeance. His Breed power of pyrokinesis is an interesting one, which leads to some pretty devestating conclusions. Claire was a great breedmate for him. Discovering their past and experiencing their reunion was a

Well, at least these two have known each other for a while as opposed to the week it took the others to meet, fall in love and then decide they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with each other.
And why did the author always have to refer to Brock as the black warrior? Okay, he's black. I got that the first 10 times she mentioned it. It will be interesting to see how she refers to him when he gets his own book, granted he gets a book.
Enough ranting.
