Enjoyable new volume in the Midnight Breed series. I've always had a soft spot for Chase and seeing him brought so low then drag himself back up with the help of his gorgeous new breedmate (and Gen One female!) was great. There's plenty of action and a good amount of romance. I like that these females are getting more kickass as the series progresses. The first heroines were a bit Mary Sue for my taste.

I have to admit that I was not 100% looking forward to Chase's book. I felt like he took page time away from some of the heroes I liked better in previous books. So I put it off. But I really shouldn't have. I loved Tavia as a heroine. She certainly has a lot of changes to absorb in the story and, although she starts with an understandable freak out, once she learns the truth she just wants to move forward. Before I read this I thought this series was losing steam. The last books didn't accompllish much to move the plot along. But I have really been looking forward to Chace's story. Well I was soooo NOT disappointed with Darker Than Midnight. Tavia was unique and talented and Chase stepped up as I knew he would. I'm wondering which direction the series will go from here, but it's guaranteed to be a total surprise and delight!
