Atticus now needs to deal with the fallout from the last book and trades favors with Coyote to fake his death. Of course the favor to Coyote ends up being more dangerous than expected as he helps setup an Indian Reservation to have better job options than casinos and coal mining.

We get lots of Oberon and Granuaile which is a good thing. Some of the locals are really interesting as well. Atticus fixed a couple major problems this book but there are other big ones looming in the distance.

Kevin Hearne gets better with each book! I wasn't sure how Atticus, Granuaile and Oberon were going to be able to go on after the ending of HAMMERED. Enter Coyote. It's a return to form for Atticus. After I didn't like him that much in Hammered, he's back without his case of "the smug" in this book. I was happy to see Oberon back, I love the exchanges between the two of them and Oberon was absolutely a hero in this one. I think Oberon and Granuile do a lot to keep Atticus human and challenge him in ways that make him a more relatable, likable character.

I also like Hearne's portrayal of Coyote. I've read other series where Coyote is sort of a good natured p
