Wow. I thought the first one was so-so, so I was surprised by how incredible this one was! If you are on the fence about continuing with this series, I highly recommend that you keep reading.

As the second book in the series, very little time was spent refreshing the rules of the world. I thought this was a weak point in the first book, but I didn't find myself focusing on it as much in this book. I think that is partially true because we spend most of this book in the faerie realm. I think the basics of the faerie world (they are pretty much like any other faerie book) are more well-defined than those concerning how the Crossroads and Touchstones interact with the human world and th As the second book in the series, very little time was spent refreshing the rules of the world. Abby has grown more confident in this book, but I find it hard to believe that so many Otherworld denizens look to her for help when she has only been part of their world for a little while. I especially can't believe that she pretty much takes the reins from the royal family because they aren't being proactive. Suspending that, Abby is a loyal and supportive character though she is still brash and headstrong. My biggest complaint about Abby is that she's always fixing other people's messes all of the time and letting herself be pulled into and used in situations that are detrimental to her. She gets into many situations that can basically be described as "rock meet hard place." The worst part is that most of the people she is helping couldn't care less about her since she's human. I don't really like the "solution" at the end, but I can see how it will make for a thrilling third book.

I love Talivar, just throwing that out there. I am totally, 100% Team Talivar. Now saying that, I didn't think the love triangle was really needed. I could be biased because I didn't like Brystion in the first book and I still don't like him here. When Abby comes to him for help, he turns her down and doesn't reappear until she has a new guy. He doesn't really explain his change of heart, continues to do things that make Abby uncomfortable, and seems to be stringing her along. I find it hard to believe in him as a sympathetic character so as I said before, Team Talivar for the win!

The "villian" in this novel was pretty annoying. I have to say that I kept wishing someone would just kill Tresa already, lol.

As for the other side characters, Phin and Moira provided some shocking insight into Abby's past and family history. I am interested to see how that will play out or if it will turn into a non-issue. We learn a lot more about Melanie's background but I am a little confused (view spoiler). Brandon, Katy, Charlie, and Robert are all around for a quick hello here and there. Abby's mom also makes a spirited appearance and lays out some final wisdom.

It seems like I complained a lot about this book, but I did really and truly like it. I think it was an improvement on the first installment and sets up the next well. I just hope that we get more actual character development with Abby herself in the next book. Girl's messed up; she has a lot of her own problems that she needs to deal with. Let's look at those for a little while instead of her always being drawn into other people's stuff. ...more

This was fun. This second book in the series is pretty full of action from the beginning. Abby is still pretty sad about being dumped by Brystion (and I still don't really understand why he did that since it is obvious they both still are in love/lust).

This is the 2nd in the series, and took me a little to get into, but I persevered and was well rewarded. It continues Abby's story and man does that girl know how to get herself into trouble. With the brooding incubus Ion and the wounded Elf Prince, a little unicorn, a baby with wings, fairies, daemons and a fox lady to name a few she has a lot on her hands along with saving the Faery world as well. Shelves: a-paper-book, read-2012

I did not finish this book. I could not bring myself to care about any of the characters even after reading 200+ pages. There are too many books out there that I am dying to read so I did not finish this one.
