4.5 stars. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this. Fast-paced and fascinating story about a girl searching for her sister in a world inexplicably destroyed by angels. I don't read a lot of YA (I'm probably too old to relate to all that teen angst!) but the storyline in this is definitely complex enough to appeal to adult readers. The way things played out (particularly with Penryn's sister Paige and the mysterious angel Raffe) was continually surprising and towards the end totally shocking! ...more

All right this book was closer to a 4 ½ star rating than a 5 star rating.

This was extremely action-packed and Penryn was the epitome of a kick-ass heroine. She knew just about every form of self-defense possible and wasn't afraid to use it. She is definitely a person I would like to be friends with or be like. Her love for her sister and her determination were far and above what a sister could possibly be.

As for Raffe, he is an absolute angel...literally. I would love to have him as a travel p ...more

Riveting story. I was drawn in from the start. The ending lost it a star though. The story wasn't finished and was left hanging like the author just got tired of writing. I hate stories that don't have all the parts: beginning, middle, end. ...more
