I downgraded this book to 2 stars in the last chapter. Before that, I enjoyed it but I cannot hold with the way things ended.

You see, if there's something I HATE, are control freaks who think they know what's best for others and don't listen to what they have to say. I cannot respect a person who forces her will and basically enslaves a person "for their own good" without having a clue what's going on. And that's what Charley did at the end of the book so she's been added to my list of characte

First book I started/ finished for 2018. Thought it was going to be Ready Player One, but had more time to listen then actually read.

Charley Davidson, smartass grim reaper extraordinaire, is once again in trouble. She is working on a case for her friend Cookie while trying to help a ghost and at the same time figure out where the injured Reyes is.

She learns a few things she didn't know about her abilities and during her investigation to find Reyes she discovers a few things about him that surprise her, but I imagine that's only the beginning.

The thing I enjoyed most about the first book in this series was Charley's conversations with dead people and how those conversations helped her to solve crimes. And I had really hoped that that was where the series would go, so I was a little disappointed with this book. There was a crime and there were a few brief conversations with ghosts, but this book was more about Reyes and the troublesome relationship between the two of them. I still loved the humour - Charley makes me laugh out loud - b ...more

Charley Davidson is starting to grow on me. Great urban fantasy with quirky humor and a likeable cast of supporting characters. Reyes, as always, is smoking hot. And, I wish Dead Trunk Guy didn't cross over at the end of his storyline. His was an interesting story.

Lots of things I didn't like about this book. Charley does stupid, impulsive things. Charley's father does understandably though unnecessarily secretive, stupid things. Reyes does noble but stupid things. The high school kids did horrible then stupid things.

But still a decent story and I have a secret crush on Reyes though I'm not the type to join a fan club. (view spoiler)

That love interest is such an enormous asshole, I don't know how she can stand it. I actually like the detective guy. I figured that my rooting for him meant this book wasn't for me, especially when I wanted him to shoot Reyus. ...more
