Uhhh I don't understand why everyone was so upset with the ending. I've got no problems with it.

A pink cover and comes out on my birthday!

Here's hoping her gift to me is Kiyo's slow, painful death; preferably by castration, but I'll also accept a mortal gut wound.

not one of my favourite books in the series, but i really liked the final quarte. i wanted more relationship stuff with Dorian and the poopdeck Kitsune involved, it only really started happening at the end, which is why i liked the ending so much. still, four stars is pretty good. but i really, really, really

Very disappointed by the ending of this series. It was fantastic until the last 3 pages. It wasn't that Shadow Heir was terrible. My understanding that it was the end of the series yet Mead left openings so that she may or may not write another to the series. It's irritating when you know it's the end, and yet the leading lady doesn't do the right thing. It is a possibility that Mead did this intentionally so that she could write about the babies that were born in this installment. Seeing how she ...more

Oooh. I did something I *never* do when reading this book. At one point I was so convinced that the author was going to deviate from my wishes with the characters, I flipped to the last page of the book and scanned for 0.5 seconds to see if I saw a certain characters name. SCANDALOUS! I never do that! But, she had me worried!

I can't say I'm pleased with Eugenie's omission of the full truth at the end of the book, but I did love the novel and am so happy to have read the series. I loved the humor

After two really good books, I was expecting a stellar ending to the series. Shadow Heir started good. Eugenie made some questionable choices (view spoiler), but I could understand where she came from. The middle was excellent. I wasn't surprised by some things that happened; the foreshadowing made it fairly obvious. And then the end came. And smacked my unceremoniously in the face. WTF was that? I hated how it ended and what Eugenie did at the end so much that ...more

Better than the previous book. Still disappointing in many ways. There were a few moments where I was able to lose myself in the story but mostly I was just trying to get through it while wondering why Mead's writing has weakened so. The book would have greatly benefited from a bit more tightening in the plot and in the writing itself. Too bad. I would have gladly waited a few more months for a better book. To quote Dorian, " I think I've just been used." Only, I mind. ...more

I am happy that Eugenie has found some happiness, but shocked at some of the choices she made in this book. I am hoping for a spin off series, that would be great.
I really would like to write a more detailed review but, I just can't do it without a ton a spoilers.
