Were you one of the few that were sad to see the Vampire Academy books finish ? Sad, that you would never see Rose, Adrian , Dmitri, Sydney etc on a written page again? Never Fear though Vampire Academy fans , as author Richelle Mead has not left us wondering as she has written a spin-off type series focusing on The Alchemists and one in particular who got alot of face-time in the Vampire Academy series Sydney Sage. After the last book of the Vampire Academy series , we read as Sydney was found Were you one of the few that were sad to see the Vampire Academy books finish ? Sad, that you would never see Rose, Adrian , Dmitri, Sydney etc on a written page again? Never Fear though Vampire Academy fans , as author Richelle Mead has not left us wondering as she has written a spin-off type series focusing on The Alchemists and one in particular who got alot of face-time in the Vampire Academy series Sydney Sage. After the last book of the Vampire Academy series , we read as Sydney was found to be too close to the Vampires and exiled and ridiculed in the world of the Alchemists as to them Vampires and Dhampirs are abominations to the world and to humans. When an teenage girl Alchemist is required , it makes sense that they would stop at the Sage's family home and request Zoe Sage , Sydney's younger sister -though she has not had the training to deal with situations and Sydney , not wanting this life for her sister - stands up to take her place and sees this also has a last resort to redeeming herself and an opportunity to see old friends as when she arrives at the destination she is reunited with Rose , Eddie, Adrian , Jill and of course Abe - who as we learn has Sydney has his own Alchemist due to a revenge pact that was made. It seems that Jill's life as a princess royalty is in danger and they need to hold her somewhere safe and sound. Eddie, Jill and Sydney go undercover as Siblings and enroll in Amberwood Prep , though it seems something more sinister is happening when students start displaying similar tattoos to Sydney's alchemist mark and these tattoos are giving them fast-fix abilities. When Moroi are being found killed and these tattoos becoming more popular, it seems that Sydney and her friends may have another task at hand as it seems that the vampire killings , tattoos may be connected to a rogue Alchemist.

What do I think about this book...hmmmm. As I began reading, actually about a chapter into the book, I realized that I didn't much care what I thought about the book. I was just so happy to be back in this "world", with old friends I didn't realize I had missed so much. I devoured this book - half a day to finish it. What is not to love - my fav author and one of my fav crews of characters. Some have said the storyline is weak - maybe it is a bit, but Mead's series are always slow to develop and ...more

wow I...I really can't see Adrian loving anyone but Rose and yet I think Rose and Dmitri are perfect. what is wrong with me!? but IF it must happen, please let it be Adrian and Sydney, NOT Jill.

So...this book actually went better than I expected. Thought I'd dread seeing Sydney and Adrian together but I actually really likes Sydney. Not as great a series as Rose's but I'll defn continue it. ...more

My impatient wait for this book to come out is over and I have just finished reading it. It was weird in the beginning, reading about Rose's world and not having her in it. But Richelle Mead is a kickass author for nothing. She delivers all my expectations.

We get to meet the side characters whose stories were left unfinished and of course Adrian! woohoo - Even though I always preferred Dmitri for Rose, I have loved Adrian as a character with all his badness and softness. I am happy he gets a ce ...more

She's too put upon - too focused on avoiding the re-education centres. She does what she's told and to begin with no matter what she does she upsets someone. Plus her father is awful.

And Adrian - for gods sake - snap the f**k out of the pity party. No-one owes you anything. To his credit he does start to change - but the arrival of Dimitri will probably throw him back to square 1.

Sydney ends up in Palm Springs, charged with protecting Jill. Edd ...more

3 words.... I Loved This..
If you read this, you may need a refresher course in Vampire academy. As it refers to the series a little bit. But for my bad memory i found it annoying. as i thought i had missed something. so i'm now going to go back and read Vampire academy. just to see if i had missed something.
But if you haven't read Vampire academy yet, and you want to read this book, you can. but you might want to read VA afterwards. Beacuse I Gaurantee you will want more of sydneys world.
