I have the benefit of being able to read all four books in succession so I am glad to see growth in the charcters and storyline in this second book of the Vampire Academy series. The story moves faster with a better sense of change and direction.
The wider world intrudes more on the storyline so we have less of the high schoool "Mean Girls" and more about the politics of the society, which is personally more interesting to me.

Am really loving this series.

When a massive vampire attack decimates a Moroi family, St. Vladimir's Academy is placed on high alert. With large numbers of the deadly Strigoi in the area it is decided that the winter trip to snowy Idaho is now mandatory. The follow up to Vampire Academy was just as good, if not better than the first. I really respect and appreciate that Richelle Mead does not feel the need to censor or dumb down her writing for younger audiences. She doesn't shy away from discussing sex, but keeps it on a level that seemed very realistic and reminded me of my high school years.
