Overall: I enjoyed the world that Ms. Vaughn created. I have not read a lot of books with dragons as the main characters so it was easy to envision and get lost in her world. The message, not judging others just because they are different than you, came across without being too much. The story seemed to end right when they were getting to a good part so I'm hoping there is a follow up to this book. ...more

I enjoyed this book from start to finish. The author's approach coupled with believable characters made this book a nice read. I also love Kay, the heroine, for her strength and for her maturity when dealing with unexpected events in her life.

My first thought was shit. I really like this author's Kitty Norville series. This book? Not so much. Kay is an IDIOT. The book starts out with her free-climbing BY HERSELF, no one knows where she is, and this: "...slowly creeping up with only her hands and feet to support her." I realize she's only 17 and we all do stupid things, but this wasn't the first time she did something like this. She also clearly knew better and just didn't care.
