I have previously avoided this book due to some negative reviews, but I thoroughly enjoyed this installment. Background stories need context and motivation to be interpreted accurately, and Kenyon gave us a great deal of information that explains why certain characters act or respond the way they do. This is Stryker's story. For some reason, when I first started reading this book months ago I just couldn't finish it. Stryker is just too evil for my sympathy. I decided to re-read the series and devoured this book (as is fitting for a Kenyon novel). Stryker isn't quite the arrogant psycho that he appears...no, that's a lie, he IS that arrogant, but Zephyra is just as scary.
