Despite very negative reviews, I would recommend this book to anyone. This book was so good; it was hard to put down! The characters were interesting and likeable; the storyline, full of twists and turns. I found myself saying "aha" numerous times. There was the right amount of excitement, romance, mystery and I was introduced to a new paranormal character, the "The Shadowhunter". People with part angel blood that hunt and kill demons. I also liked that at times in the book; they worked alongsid ...more

In Cassandra Clare’s City of Bones, the opening novel to her The Mortal Instruments series, we’re introduced to a world of Shadowhunters — those who spend their lives ridding the world of demons — through the eyes of 15-year-old Clary Fray. Good book. Interesting twist about the two main characters Jace and Clary. I liked all the paranormal stuff. I would recommend the book.

Such an amazing book, and such a great start to the series.
I can see why so many people love The Mortal Instruments novels.
I'm absolutely taken by the story; It's fast paced, action packed, filled with lore and just enough supernatural aspects to make it interesting and an attention grabber. I'm emotionally invested in what happens to the main characters. Clare gives us some twists and turns that you never see coming... and some you do, but don't wanna recognize cause you're in denial. Loved it.

Hummm. I feel for Simon. :( Jace is kind of confusing. I had my mental image of Jace and Simon mixed up.

Anyway... This book is alright. Didn't see that coming. :(

I will read the next book just to see what happens next. I found it hard to stay interested though. :/
