There were some mentions here that caused me to pause. Why is it that when white people describe people of color, all they've got is color words at their fingertips?
Alice trips and glides. Esme is probably the leash described but we still get the rundown of her features. Jane is angelic. Rose, beautiful.
But every Native in the story? They're dark. So dark. Dark shapes, dark skin, dark faces. It's off-putting. Takes me out of the story because it makes me wonder about the author. Is she ...more

I didn't like this book as much as I did Twilight but after I read them all I understood that it was a major part of the saga and wouldn't have worked without it. The end is really good though.
