I just finished Heart of Steel (A Novel of the Iron Seas) by Meljean Brook. All I can say is that I hope that I won't have to wait too long for the next installment. This is a terrific adventure in both the physical sense and the spiritual. Yasmeen is a tough, smart, mercenary, and captain of her own air-ship the Corsair. Archimedes is an adventurer, treasure hunter, and a romantic. The last time they met, he tried to take over her air-ship and she threw him overboard into a canal in Venice, sur

Meljean Brook’s Heart of Steel is a straight-up adventure. Daring escapes, explosions, zombies, treasure hunting and one man’s quest to fall in love with the woman with a heart of steel.
While Heart of Steel is set in the same world as The Iron Duke, the tone is different. At times it’s rollicking, others deep, but where the first Iron Seas book brought the heat often, the second offers a slow burn. We met both Captain Corsair and Archimed ...more

This was more of an Indiana Jones type adventure romance than The Iron Duke. And given the characters of Archimedes Fox and Yasmeen it was certainly less angsty. I loved Archimedes Fox in The Iron Duke and he doesn't disappoint here. He and Yasmeen are a great team. In that they are truly a team. When he is better at

I really enjoyed this 2nd Iron Seas novel following Captain Corsair and Archimedes Fox. They're both great chartacters as are Mad Machen and Ivy (there's a short story about them I found after reading this). We don't see the Duke or Inspector in this novel, though they are mentioned. There's lots of adventure and not to much wishy-washy crap in the romance. They decide what they want and go for it in love and life. I will definitely continue with this series.
