Enjoyable short story which first appeared in an anthology of paranormal stories, it features a Renaissance Florentine vampire named Luisa, who travels to Tibet to learn how to live without feeding. There she meets Martin, a Tibetan monk who's half European and still learning from his master. He is assigned the task of teaching Luisa how to control this need and learns instead that he is not destined to remain in his mountainous lamasery.
