I'm not going to write a full review of this book, because it would require too many spoilers to be useful. I will say that there is a reason that, while I did enjoy it, this one is widely considered to be the weakest of the books thus far. The missing stories (Jon, Tyrion, Dany) are so central to the series that their absence is a gaping hole in the novel.

This installment left me feeling confused and just a tad uninterested. I understand that the story grew too big to be publish as one book, but this part did nothing to advance the story. There was a lot of telling and very little doing. Characters that I cared nothing for had POV chapters or the ones that I did come to enjoy wouldn't stop going over the same point. How many times did Jaime lament that Cersei was f***king Moon Boy? Or that Brienne was looking for her sister who was 3 and 10? Fran

More like 3.5 stars. Didn't get good until the end. Boy am I glad I didn't read this in 2005. I'd have been stewing over a 7 year wait! How is that even possible, if he'd already written most of it?
