I'm finally going to admit to myself that I'm giving up on this book. I started reading it at the end of September 2011 and I'm still not even halfway through so it really is time.
I enjoyed the first book. Looking back on it, maybe not so much that it deserved a 5 star rating but I'll leave that there for now. But this book was incredibly boring. The second season of the HBO series, A Game of Thrones, is based on A Clash of Kings. I watched the series when it was on last year and loved it just as much as the first season. If you’ve read my review on the first book in the series, then you know that I was pretty amazed at how closely the tv show followed the book. Because of this, I almost skipped the second book (since I’d already seen season two on tv) but just couldn’t bring myself to actually skip a book in a series.

A fit sequel to the first book, heavy and dark and painfully realistic. Compelling and a bit annoying since the point of view changes once things get interesting, but also very clever, giving us information as our heroes get it, some times accurate and others misleading.
Our heroes' adventures continue from where we left them with a few additions to balance the ones whose stories already ended.
Looking forward to seeing what happens next to most of the various characters, hoping for a lucky break ...more
