A Game of Thrones is high fantasy, but it is also exactly what it is supposed to be, a game of thrones. It is diabolical and cunning, witty, sharp, and brutal. It does not shy from any fact, and it does not embellish what need not be there. It is one of those rare books, that is almost perfect. I only say almost, because everyone has their own reading preference.
