What Members Thought

We're raising the stakes with this one and Cassiel has grown along the way. A lot of this installment is about Cassiel focusing on what it means to be human and how that humanity works with the Djinn and Great Mother (I think that's what she calls her, anyway). Her relationship with Luis is tested to the extreme and I liked where Caine took things between them. Some of the story felt slow at times and I'm getting tired of the same song and dance between Pearl and Cassiel. Since the next book is

I love Rachel Caine's books. The Weather Warden series was wonderful. This spin off of that series is pretty good too. I like Cassiel but I don't. She was a Djinn so her personality is just now becoming more human and less uncaring, aloof. That being said, it's hard to read these because of the awful things happening to the Warden children. Yes I know bad things happen in real life, all the time, to kids. But on this scale I hope not. And by the end of the book, things are getting worse.
