Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Spoilers are finally out eh? I didn't read it. However I read the reviews that are spoiler free and JOnah, yes Jonah, was mentioned way too much for my liking. Guess that answers my agonizing question. Nevertheless, I would read it for the satisfaction of hurling the book on my wall..if it ...more

I was a little apprehensive about this book after Hard Bitten an all that happened in that book.
With Drink Deep, it just didn't grab me in the beginning like the others did. It was missing something, Merit was out of sorts and that transferred to me. I was pleased with Merit's handling of things in this book, she really grew as a character.
The big bad - what can I say. I actually shook the book a little and shouted "oh for God's sake! Open your eyes woman!!!". I saw it coming a mile away. But ...more

This book wasn't a bad read, but it had some serious pacing problems. The first 2/3 of the book have Merit investigating a black lake, and they move soooo slowly. Everything that should have been building more organically in the first part of the book, rushes in at the last minute. And this everything includes remixes of old Buffy plots (view spoiler)

A storm is brewing over Chicago and with the city in turmoil and threatening to pass a paranormal registration act, Cadogan House is in a precarious position. All Merit wants to do is lay low for a while and lick her wounds but it seems fate has other plans for her when the waters of Lake Michigan suddenly turn pitch black. It's clear the darkest magic is at work and Merit must act as Sentinel and turn to friends, and enemies, new and old to find out who is behind this and stop them before it is

Well it wasn't my favorite of this series but I didn't hate it. Love the fact that Ethan came back. I think that he and Merit have lots more life in them.
Love the way that Jonas has evolved.
It wasn't as action packed as some of the other books but I think that Chloe Neill is building towards something big.
She has a number of questions to answer in my opinion.
I enjoyed it and look forward to what she has to come in the next book. ...more

Wow I can't believe what an ASS Morgan has become. I guess it is a good thing I was Team Ethan all along. This book ended in another big cliffhangers..lol It is a good thing I have the next one in hand or I would be pissed. I am not going to say much more about the book because I might regret it later so I am shutting up now..lol ...more

Overall this was a blah-zeh in-between type of book that most series suffer from. I wasn't at all happy with how the last book ended, and my prejudice somewhat carried over to this book. Hopefully Ms. Neill's work will improve in this series because it started off so well. Keeping my fingers crossed. Cheers and Happy Reading!
