In Some Girls Bite, Merit was turned vampire against her will. And she spent that first Chicagoland Vampires novel trying to resist her new existence and come to terms with the required relationship with Ethan, master of Cadogan House.
In the second novel, Merit has accepted her role in the vampire world. She’ll keep her word and take up her position as Sentinel of the House. She even moves in. Though she does her damnedest to avoid Ethan, an ...more

I liked this one more than the first. I enjoyed learning more about the characters and Merit's family. It was nice to see Merit use her researching skills. There are still some loose ends that need tied up, so I'm looking forward to the next book.

The second book in the Chicagoland series, and just as good (which was great!). This book picks up where the last book (Some Girls Bite) left off, Merit is moving into the Cadogan house, dating the new Master Vampire that her Master told her too, while trying to ignore her feelings for said Master.

This is still a good book, and I'm excited to continue this series, but there were definitely parts that bugged me. Mainly, Merit was a little frustrating, with her pushing everyone away and not being able to open up. Also not crazy about the love triangle and hope it resolves itself soon. Story wise, interesting, if a bit political for my taste. Overall, still a lot of the same wit and sarcasm, and pop culture references to boot. I mean, how often does anyone bring up Newsies??
