I finished this a couple of hours ago. Why didn't I post right away? Well, I was too busy starting Mockingjay!
My initial impressions were: a fantastic, fast-paced, twisty, keep-you-guessing story...it's a disturbing and compelling tale. It picks up shortly after The Hunger Games. Just enough background detail to refresh your memory if you haven't read the first recently, but not too much that it will bore you if, like me, you read it a few weeks ago.

loved this follow up to the hunger games. i wondered how there could be 3 books in this series because the hunger games seemed pretty self contained. but i am so glad it is not. i love the characters (but katniss with her sensitivity does tend to irritate me at times - that is why only 4 stars!) and the story. can't wait to read the last one.

Fabulous continuation of the trilogy. I'm amazed at the obstacles the author dreams up to put in the way of the contestants. I won't go into them here, just prepare to be amazed! There is lots of action, extremes of emotion, and a few very heartfelt moments. All in all, a wonderfully intense roller-coaster ride of a read.

I liked Hunger Games better but this was a good follow up! Just seemed the "games" were forced and a little odd.
