3.5 stars - Feels too much like the first act of a bigger story and not enough happened to be the plot of a book in its own right.

The world building is pretty good and the story has potential, but it took a long time to get going and then in the end not a lot really happened or was concluded. This means if you want to know the full story you definitely need to read the next novel and I generally don't like these kinds of cliffhanger books, which don't deliver a proper plot in their own right.
