Overall this was an OK book. The idea of two sides, light and dark, is different. However I felt that the way the novel was planned out (smaller stories fitted into a much larger plotline) made it feel a bit more stilted. Some of the characters are hard to like or understand; and the constant being-betrayed theme does become tedious. Yet the idea behind the novel is imagiantive and does make a good start to a promising series.
