It gets confusing since there are so many "switching and doubles" but very catchy book. I couldn't put it down when I got in the last few chapters. It certainly got exciting there! Cliff hanger though. Must hop on the next book right away!

Reread. 4 stars.
I'm not exactly sure why I never continued the series after reading book 1 six years ago. I must have enjoyed it enough to hang on to the book. Since Karen Chance is so popular and I still have her other books in my TBR, I decided to reread book 1 and continue on if I wanted to.
I really enjoyed the book. The characters and world development were interesting. I'm definitely going to continue on to book 2. ...more

There was some good stuff here but also a bit of first book in the series syndrome. A fair amount of info dumping and history exposition, often interrupted dialogue so that I forgot what the question was before I heard the answer. But a lot of times first books aren't my favorite and I like the world and want to read more in the series.
