I'd forgotten how much world-building was involved in this first of the series, probably because it is so well done. Whilst Kara, has "graduated" into a full summoner, there is still so much to learn plus she has to fill in FBI Special Agent Ryan Kristoff. So we get to learn along the way too.
The Symbol Man case is so caught up in the action that it was easy to miss the guilty party until it is sprung upon you at the end. I know I missed it and I've read it ...more

i absolutely loved this book! A suspense novel with demons and sadistic killers in it! ohhh... my favourite! haha...
I don't want to give any serious spoilers out so basically, i'll just say that Kara Gillian is a demon summoner and is therefore, kind of a loner. Demons, by the by, is not public knowledge so when Kara becomes the lead in a famous unsolved crime case and finds demonic runes on the body, she gets just a tad worried that she might somehow spoil her secret.

A good book. It's a little like a mix between Aisling Grey series because of the summoning demons part, and Anita Blake series because of all the police work and dead bodys. So I'm pretty happy with this book, since the one that I read before was the 10th of Anita Blake (the one where it all went down the drain, and you just wanna do a funeral for the previes book and cry you heart out, and as a peace offering kill the author for turning it into a cheap porn style book.)
