It's been awhile since I read the first book, but this one got me caught up quick. I really like Lily and Scout, they are good BFFs and adepts. I love how Lily calls it a gift when it seems pretty sucky to me, you get magic from puberty to 25 and then have to give it up or have it destroy you (or you destroy others to keep it). They never get to do anything that doesn't seem to be for the greater good with their magic, so it seems like more of a curse to me. I did like learning more about this w

Hexbound picks up a few weeks after where Firespell leaves off. Though both series (Chicagoland Vampire series and Dark Elite; both by Neill) are both set in Chicago, and both deal with the supernatural, it’s still amazing how Chloe Neill makes the books so different from each other.
