A challenge (SOS Bingo) put me in the position of finally finishing the Vampire Academy series, more to cross it off the list than anything else as it took me quite some time to warm to Rose and company.
Last Sacrifice picks up where Spirit Bound ends, Rose is imprisoned awaiting trial, Dimitri is a figure of suspicion and her friends and family are working frantically to free them both. All of Rose's friends know she didn't kill the queen, the question is how are they going to prove it and find out who really did? How are they going to buy the time to find out - well, Lissa could always run for queen.... If only she had another family member out there somewhere so she could legally stand....

After a jailbreak Rose goes on the run - with Dimitri. It was hard to see t I spent part of this book a bit confused. Because so bloody much happened, it was hard to keep track of everything.

After a jailbreak Rose goes on the run - with Dimitri. It was hard to see them together at first, especially as Rose thought he only did it because Lissa asked him to, but little by little you could see him thawing out. Accepting that he did still love Rose, hoping that they could have a life together - unfortunately Rose of course still had a boyfriend, but it was never going to work out with Adrian - really, was it? It was always supposed to be Rose and Dimtri, like Edward and Bella - they were meant for each other.

They were always there for each other, knowing that the other was thinking, able to read each others emotions. When Rose talked Dimitri down after he went overkill on a Strigoi, it was perfect - because she knew what he'd been like as a Strigoi, what he was trying to erase. Just like he was there for her after she had killed Victor (I'm sorry, but Robert has to come back after them for that one at some point surely).

I was glad to see Sonya restored (even if it was done by Robert). Glad as well that they were able to talk her into helping them find Lissa's secret sister/brother. Because Rose couldn't really sit around doing nothing, she had to do something to help Lissa in some way. I hope that Lissa will accept Jill as her sister, it's not going to be easy.

Of course there were a few loose ends. I'd like to know what happens to Sydney (guess I'll be reading Bloodlines very soon). I have to hope as well that Adrian gets his HEA at some point. That he becomes the man that Rose believes he can be - with the right woman. How Lissa copes with being Queen - and if there are any little Dragomirs on the horizon.

I'm going to miss Rose and Dimka being the centre of attention though.

Definitely didn't have me as tied up and tortured as book 4......but thoroughly enjoyed Rose and D's "road trip" ;). Guess I really couldn't have wished for a better ending all-round, except do I feel something coming around out of this with Adrian and/or Jill?? I haven't really paid attention to or heard of any spin-offs yet, but if anyone knows if you don't mind pass it on!! ...more

Loved the book, loved the series. Love this author. I am so glad there will be more. Richelle has agreed to write a short story about Rose and Dimitri and then she has also begun a new series that takes off on the Alchemists and Sidney. Can't wait.

Do not miss this series. Best YA since Twilight. ...more

This was a case of having invested so much, you have to see it to the end. I didn't so much enjoy the journey but I did like the surprises that came my way. and now I can officially say I have read everything Richelle Mead as ever written up to this point, whoop! :P ...more
