This took a little bit of time to get into, but once I did, it was hard to put down. In this world, you have the "Broken:" non-magical, "real" world, the "Weird:" magic exists, and the "Edge:" the place between. Most in the Weird are unable to cross into the Broken. Loved the story, the characters & the world building - all the classic Ilona Andrews that I love.
BUT the person that reads the audiobook about had me losing my mind. I get that SOME scenes can be dramatic in a way, but good grief the narrator made every single scene highly dramatic and overly emotional. I’ll keep reading the series, because I live this author, but I’ll READ them. I love audiobooks, but this was too much.

Main Street meets Camelot with Appalachia in the middle all iced with magic and mayhem. Terrific world building, engaging characters. Sadly, one of those books that ended too soon. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I was kinda disappointed I thought it was going to be as good as Kate's books.
