I pretty much started skimming the book after a hundred pages. I can't believe I even made it that far! It's so bad that it has brought me out of my reviewing shell to say how much I disliked this book.

Yikes! if you go through the reviews of this book on goodreads you'll see that the ratings are generally at two stars or one. I really really should have taken this into account before starting this, but I decided to give it the benefit of a doubt.
It starts of quite fine actually with a pretty well written prologue that left me sufficiently interested and curious and so I looked forward to finding out more about the star crossed lovers.

Unfortunately Fallen just didn't work for me. I found the premise appealing and creative but the execution of the story was disappointing.
To me it seeemed Kate relied heavily on a concept to carry the story without providing motivation and action to propel it. I felt that Kate failed to complete a single thought for almost the entire book. She picks up an event like Trevor's death, or the inexplicable fire, and then drops it like a stone.
