what can I say? ... hmmm, I LOVED this book! Shall I tell you how much I love this series?

This was the second book I'd bought on my nook that was over $1. I figured I'd buy this book since it was on sale for $5 and check the rest out from the library. A few weeks after buying the book I decieded to start reading it. I was going to stop reading around ch.6 and finish during summer. But...I couldn't wait so when I had a break in books I picked it up again. I got about 1/2 through it and said to my what can I say? ... hmmm, I LOVED this book! Shall I tell you how much I love this series?

A few weeks after buying the book I decieded to start reading it. I was going to stop reading around ch.6 and finish during summer. But...I couldn't wait so when I had a break in books I picked it up again. I got about 1/2 through it and said to myself "summer's almost here, and I usually go on trips...what if i finish this book and then can't get the next ones?...or if i have to keep the next books WAAAYY over due....should i buy the next book?" ... (2 weeks later, still 1/2 through) $8.99????? WHO PAYS $8.99 FOR A BOOK ON ELECTRONIC PAPER?....few weeks go by, about 15 pages after 1/2 though...hmmm, it's on sale for $7.14, I'll buy it!...about a month or two later, about 3/4th done, "how much is the last book...$9.99???? THIS IS HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!!!!!"....about 5 pages after 3/4ths of the way..."I'll look at the free nookbooks, oops! I accidently clicked on bestsellers...oh look! Mockingjay is on sale for $7.14...maybe if..." so I closed my eyes and clicked buy before I could talk myself out of it again. I just spent 19 dollars and 28 cents on nookbooks, my first series I've bought on it...that's love.

I paused in reading it for a few months, only because it was on my nook and I had library books that had to be turned in. I liked the action, and the romance but if there hadn't been the "it's all for the camera, does she really love him?" then I probably wouldn't have liked the romance as much because i think too much mushy mushy stuff is unnecessary. Speaking of romance, I CAN'T DECIDE WHICH TEAM I'M ON! there wasn't much of Gale in this book so I don't really know him but he seemed awesome (and all my friends are team Gale also), Peeta on the other hand...ohhh Peeta. I felt bad for him with his unrequitted love, I was happy when they got together, i was sad when...oohhhh you get the point. But again, he's a softy, which while adorable in theory may not be so nice for tu-sais-qui. At the begining Haymitch is horrible but near the end (with the help of some sarcasm) he starts to grow on you. Now....a wait then on to Catching Fire. My gosh I love when you don't have to wait to read the next book in the series :D ...more

I have no idea why it took me so long to read this book. I loved it. The writing, the story, the characters.. I loved it all. I wanted to know the ending to the book and what happened to the characters in the book but I finished the first half of the book. I kept telling myselto resist going on the web and getting all the info about the trilogy. Love love love this book. After a year of mediocre books I'm glad I ended 2011 with this book. ...more

Ahh, Althoght this book was directed toward young adults, I found it a great read for adults as well. Nothing like I have ever read before. It had my emotions going up and down through out the entire book. I could not put it down. I just had to know what would happen next. Loved it!

A very intense and gripping read, the nightmares stopped about a week after I finished the series ;-)

Recommended for fans of His Dark Materials looking to regain a little of that awesome experience of reading a hard hitting, meaningful YA series for the first time.

This was good. I saw the movie first and resisted reading the book. It refreshed my memory on the storyline from the movie but it had a few differences or should I say clarifcations of the characters basic natures.
