4 stars – Paranormal Romance

This had all the makings of a 5 star read: a hot, studtastic cover, an intriguing, unique story, fascinating world-building of the Sicari Order, a sexy, protective hero named Ares DeLuca, exotic locations, exciting archaeology, a good dose of action, adventure, and kick-ass sword-fighting, and steamy romance, but there was one major, annoying flaw that made me lower my rating: the heroine, Emma Zale.

Assassin's Honor brings us the world of the Sicari Order. The hero, Ares DeLuca, is a strong, hottie warrior who has always prided himself on his sense of honor. He's sworn never to break the Sicari's code (only kill for Justice, never Revenge) again. He meets and falls for Emma while she's on a dig in Cairo. Her father has always believed this stories of the Sicari and now she's starting to believe them herself.

This book wasn't terrible but several things bothered me. The constant interjection of Latin words and phrases in the vocabulary of the Sicari (it didn't seem Italian to me). English is my second language and I seldom interject random Spanish words as I speak. This drives me bunkers when it's done in books because I've NEVER known a fluent speaker to do that (if your English is good enough in the first place, then you speak English to people who
