so so different from true blood.
first difference.. no tara, and that is a big difference
no "V" drug culture
story is centered around sookie, and sookie only.

There are a few more differences.
but i'm not going to list them because they don't matter...

I started with Book 3 before getting my hands on 1 to start the series. I am not sure if I had read one first that I would have been terribly interested in pursuing the series as this one is a little ordinary but it does provide good grounding for the characters and Charlaine Harris refines the story, and it improves as the series progresses if you are not sure, give the next two a try first before giving up if you are usually a fan of this genre.

What a big surprise this book turned out to be. I loved it and really didn't think I would. I love when a book wows me and makes me want to keep reading. I would recommend this book but beware it is nothing like the Twilight series in case you go into thinking the way I did (I LOVED Twilight)but I didn't want a knock off version of it and it is mystery and romance. Great book. ...more

This is my second time reading this book. It's been a while since I read any of the series, and I'm feeling out of touch. And since I loved it so much the first time through, I thought, why not read it again? It was just as good as I remembered, although I didn't remember who the bad guy was, so it was a surprise all over again. :) Highly recommend. ...more
