I used to have a rule that I would never read books in a series back to back. So if I read book #1 of a particular series, then I would read a couple other books not in that series in between before going back to said series and reading book #2. I have my reasons, I'm not crazy ... well, ok, not that crazy, but my reasons where good for me. I basically didn't want to like a series and then overdose on the series and end up having love/hate feeling over the series cause I didn't back off when I s I used to have a rule that I would never read books in a series back to back. All things in moderation, I learned the hard way - MaryJanice Davidson's Queen Betsy series - still can't get near it and I LOVED it in the beginning). OVERDOSE!

Soooo, what is the point to my little rambling above? Well, now I have learned to never say never. I am well into my 30's and one would think these things should be common knowledge by now, but I guess it is true, we are always learning. I learned this 'never' word should be used lightly because I picked up book 1 of the Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger and I have not stopped reading them, back to back. I broke my 'never' rule and I didn't even hesitate, I shamelessly had to have more, I needed my dose of the parasol weilding Alexia and all the crazy mishaps that seem to come her soulless way! So, fearless rule breaker that I am (lol), I picked up book 2 and then book 3 and now I am in a dilema. Do I continue to suffer, parasol-less, and wait on the waiting list at the library for my turn at book 4, Heartless, or do I end this maddness and just buy the damn thing!?

Yeah, yeah, I know this is no kind of review on the book. But if you can't tell by all my blathering that this book, this series, this author is PHENOMENAL, then well ... really? I broke my scared book rule because I couldn't stop reading and I never once got annoyed or felt overdosed - I just wanted more! The book rocks, I can't possibly give a drawn out actual review right now, my brain is too muddled with what my course of action is going to be on getting my hands (eyes) on Heartless. So if you haven't already - read this series! Yes, I know, what works for me might not work for you but how will you know unless you read it. Enjoy ... Another great book but I was kinda upset with Alexia at the end of the book I think she should have been more upset or at least punished Lord Maccon for the way he treated her but Noooo... she had to forgive him right away. I found that really upsetting, because Lord Maccon called her all types of names and denied there child and put Alexia life in danger. Update second read. I share my lackluster opinion from the first one. I feel like the end of this book put me off reading the next ones and I only re-started them to get re-acquainted with Lyall and Biffy, who I always really liked and I want to read Romancing The Werewolf with some idea of background. But I'm starting to think an online synopsis might do the trick without having to go through the books.
